  • Robert Walsh - staunch supporter of the Troop
It is with heavy heart to report the passing of Mr.Walsh.

When Mr.Walsh was the mayor of the Township, he attended EVERY eagle scout ceremony that we had invited him to. He made certain that the scouts received their proclamation from the township, despite his busy schedule. On the occasions where he had conflicts, he made sure he presented the proclamations before leaving. I remember asking/telling him that he can send a representative and he told me no as he was very proud of the scout's achievement and that he personally wants to congratulate them and that they deserve his attention on their special event.

Before the Optimist Club became the Troop's chartered organization, I had went to their meeting on numerous occasions to request donations for our high adventure trips. By the time I finished telling them I was with the Troop and before I could tell them why I was there, he interrupted me and asked if I was asking for help. The minute I said yes, he would jump right back in and told the members that he strongly support what we do and would vote yes to whatever I was going to ask for, without hearing what I was asking for. He had that much faith in us.

For those that have helped in the Howell Optimist Club Breakfast with Santa event,  he was the jolly big elf.

    He will dearly be missed.
