Clove Hitch

The clove hitch is used to attach a rope to a pole or a log, and it’s hold is secure and fit. This knot can untie under strain, so if you want a more secure fit, it would be beneficial to use a half hitch or two. The clove hitch is a basic way to finish off lashings, and, with practice, can be tied with one hand! If the knot unrolls a lot, add a couple of half hitches with the running end to the standing end of the knot. This will provide an even tighter hold!
