  • Robert DeLeo's eagle project
    Scouts and Parents,

Thank you for everyone that made it to my project today to help. It was a lot of work that we were able to get done. Because we were able to finish early today, a second day is not necessary! Special thanks to the adults that came to help out.

  • COH Tommorrow
Scouts, Luke's COH is tomorrow.  The family has had only a couple of scouts respond to the invitation to attend.
We would encourage a few more to please consider and email the family.  Please see the previous emails or go on to the Troop
website for the details.  COH are a great event, and this project was moving and installing an antique model train.

  • Volunteer service 9/23-24 and 9/30-10/1 opportunities

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

As Troop 258 kicks-off their 2017 / 2018 years next Wednesday, it would be great if this opportunity to volunteer with Lowes and Habitat for Humanity on behalf of FPMC could be announced at the meeting. If any Scouts or Leaders are interested in volunteering it would be great if I could provide FPMC with a list of volunteers as soon as possible. Please include name, phone #, email address and either work weekend 1 or 2, so we can keep all volunteers updated should plans change.

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) has granted Building 501 to FPMC. Lowes' Hope for Heroes and Habitat for Humanity of Monmouth County have partnered with FPMC to make the facility suitable for serving their guests. Renovations include rebuilding 2 bathroom to add showers, adding a kitchen, replacing floors, repainting and landscaping.

The site of the project is inside Fort Monmouth, at the corner of Saltzman Ave and Malterer Ave in Oceanport  The entrance to the Fort at the intersection of Route 35 and Route 537 is now open to the public.

9/23-24 VOLUNTEER WORK WEEKEND #1 (inside/outside) Lowes Hope for Heroes commences work - focus painting / landscaping etc (expect 30+ volunteers from Lowes) - plus Habitat / FPMC Volunteers to also pitch in - all volunteers wearing colored shirts representing their respective organization.

9/30-10/1 VOLUNTEER WORK WEEKEND #2 - Lowes commences kitchen work and any remaining interior work and exterior landscaping work(additional Habitat & FPMC volunteers as needed / available) re-install all furniture that was stored in the pod.

"Family Promise of Monmouth County (FPMC), an affiliate of National Family Promise is committed to advocating for innovative solutions to ending family homelessness. We provide shelter, comprehensive case management, transportation and food. On an average day in Monmouth County there are 200 children who are homeless? Each year, we provide roughly 10,220 meals and 5,110 bed-nights for families in need.  Referral calls from families seeking temporary housing continue to increase. Unfortunately, our capacity falls far short of the demand." For more information about the organization go to

This service opportunity came from Mr. Peter Brophy.  I will be coordinating the efforts for Mr, Brophy.  Would appreciate if volunteers will advise asap as possible.

  • Robert DeLeo eagle project -Sept 16

    Message from Robert DeLeo

Date: September 16th (& September 17th, if a second day is required)

    Time: Starting 9:00am

Location: Allaire State Park Village, 4263 Atlantic Ave, Farmingdale, NJ

My Eagle Scout Project is at the Historic Village at Allaire State Park.  We will be installing sixty-five feet of 3’ tall spaced picket garden fencing, including a gate.  The project site is located at the base of the hill located between the General Store and the Carpenter Shop.

We will meet at the project site at 9:00 AM.  Parking is in the main parking lot and you will have to walk through the village to the site.  Please bring your own work gloves, although I will have a few extra pairs in case someone forgets theirs.

If anyone has a post hole digger that they could bring, that would be great.  I have one but multiple would help.

Water and lunch will be provided.

Please let me know if you will be able to help so I know how much help I will have and so I can plan for food.  You can email me at or text or call me on my cell phone at 732-606-3839.

We will be working rain or shine, unless it is heavy rain or thunderstorms.  In that case I will have to contact you to reschedule.

    Thank you!

    Robert De Leo
