Sheet Bend

The sheet bend is used to tie two ropes of different thickness together. When tying the knot, remember that the thicker rope is used to form a bight and the thinner rope is fed through the bight in the manner that the graphic above suggest. The knot should be tied with each end coming off the same side of the bend. If it does not, then it is called the Left Handed Sheet Bend, which is less secure.
