>Welcome William Montanaro


We are pleased to announce the selection of Will Montanaro as Development & Marketing Director for the Monmouth Council, effective October 1, 2015.                      

Will began his Scouting career in the Learning for Life Division of the Greater New York Councils (GNYC) in New York, New York. He moved on to become a Senior Exploring Executive and later served as Director of Exploring, Greater New York Council. Most recently Will is serving as Field Director of the Bronx and Manhattan Borough Councils, GNYC. In his role as Field Director Will was responsible for directly working with both the Bronx and Manhattan Boards on fundraising, Membership Management and program delivery. In his most recent role he was responsible for the fundraising of over $500,000 through the coordination of Dinners, Golf Outing, F.O.S. Campaigns, Grant writing, Board Donations and Major Gifts. Will, championed the regions Membership Campaign “I’m with Mo!” “I joined Cub Scouts” which features legendary New York Yankees Closer Mariano Rivera.  

He enjoys all types of outdoor activities including Softball, Golf and Hunting. Will and his wife, Jackie, reside in Fords, New Jersey with their infant daughter Elena. 

Please join us in congratulating Will as he joins in partnership with the volunteers and staff of the Monmouth Council to deliver quality funded Scouting Program to the young people of Middlesex and Monmouth, New Jersey. Please welcome Will to our Monmouth Scouting Family



> Jamboree on the air

Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) will be held October 17th and 18th.

JOTA is an annual event in which Boy and Girl Scouts and Guides from all over the world speak to each other by means of Amateur (Ham) Radio. Scouting experiences are exchanged and ideas are shared via radio waves. Come visit OMARC for a free and fun day of Amateur Radio at the famous OMARC location at Camp Evans in Wall, NJ. >Ten Commandments Hike III

Save the date for our annual Ten Commandments Hike. The hike is open to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, leaders, parents and family.The Hike will take place November 27th at 9 am in East Brunswick. More information will be available in upcoming E-News editions. Save the Date Flyer.



> Cubtoberfest

Join us for a fun filled family day at Cubtoberfest at Quail Hill Scout Reservation in Manalapan, NJ on October 24-25th. Units are invited to camp overnight at Quail Hill. Activities to be held during the day include: wagon ride, BB & archery, sling shot hallery, rock throwing station, fishing, bounce house, games of skill, and scarecrow building. There will be a costume parade at 1pm.

Good Scout ReceptionMiddlesex: December 8, 2015 at Ria Mar Restaurant in South River honoring Assemblywoman Nancy Pinkin, Assemblyman Wayne DeAngeleo and Scouter Gerard G. Case.

Fishing Derby - October 3rd - 9 am to 1pm at Quail Hill. Prizes will be awarded for smallest fish, largest fish and most fish caught. Licenses are required for anyone over the age of 16. Fee is $1 per person. Bring your own fishing poles and bait. This event has on site registration.

Fall Boy Scout Camporees - Mark your calendar for your district's fall camporee. Battleground: Oct.16-18 at quail Hill Middlesex: Oct 16-18 at Forestburg Thunderbird: Oct 2-4 at Forestburg; Twin Lights: October 9-11 at Quail Hill.

Cubtoberfest - October 24-25. This annual event is now an overnight! Look for more information soon.

Philadelphia Zoo Scout Programs: Night Flight Programs are available Friday and Saturday nights from October through June in the Historical Treehouse. Scout Badge Overnights are available year-round. For more information go (flyer)

> Calling All Troop/Crew Leaders

National Jamboree: July 19-28, 2017 - Monmouth Council needs leaders to supervise our Jamboree contingent. Applications are now being taken for the positions of Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Crew adviser. For a list of qualifications, additional information, and an adult leader application, please visit the Monmouth Council Jamboree website.



> Training News

All Adult leaders must be trained in their current positions to remain on the unit Charter for 2015. Visit the Training Page of the website for the a list of all upcoming training sessions and to register for a session.

Units in need of training should contact Stephanie Billings to arrange for training at the unit.

We will be offering Cub Leader training classes quarterly that will rotate locations in each of our four districts.

> Philmont 2016

Philmont 2016: Philmont is the ultimate high adventure camp. Monmouth Council will send 100 Monmouth Council Scouts and Scouters to Philmont on June 26, 2016. We have a few spots remaining. Please see website for more information:


The Philmont Contingent meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Council Service Center at 7:30 pm.

>Eagle Scout Workbooks

Attention Eagle Scouts! We have Eagle workbooks dating back to 1991. If you earned your Eagle Rank in Monmouth Council from 1991 through December 2014, or if you are from the Middlesex District and earned your Eagle Rank after the transition from Central Jersey Council to Monmouth Council, and your project workbook was brought to Monmouth Council for processing please come and pick them up.

If you would like to have your Eagle Project Workbook back, please contact Thayne Tessenholtz at (732) 536-2347 Ext 31 to schedule a time to pick it up.  All Eagle Project Workbooks will be destroyed after December 2015.

>Investors Bank Care 2 Share Program

Are you an Investor’s Bank Customer?  If you are presently a customer of Investor’s Bank or if you plan to move your accounts to Investor’s Bank in the future, you can be of great support to Monmouth Council, Boy Scouts of America.  If we can identify 75 families that presently use Investor’s Bank for their banking, the accounts will be designated for an “Affinity” program by Investor’s Bank.This means that each year, the Council will receive a check based on a percentage of the collective assets of those accounts.  The customer’s account will not be affected in any way.  This is a charitable program that Investor’s offer to non-profits. Matching Gifts if you have made your donation please contact your employer and fill out the necessary paperwork to make sure your "Matching Gift" is credited to your Unit! November is an improtant month for many companies to process matching gifts. Thank you for your continued support.

There are numerous ways that you can make a donation to support scouting. A few ways to support scouting are listed below and additional ways are listed on our Donate Now page.

Friends of Scouting

  • Volunteer Involvement Program Make sure to follow your company rules/requirements for logging and approving volunteer hours. Remember any time you spend helping your unit, whether it is driving for a trip, or event spending the week at summer camp counts as "volunteer hours."

The Scout Shop at Monmouth Council is now operating on the school year schedule. The hours for the Scout Shop will be:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9am to 6pm

Wednesday – 9am to 8pm

Friday – 9am to 5pm

Saturday – 9am to 2pm

Looking for a full time or part time job? Would you love to help Scouts and Scouters like yourself! The Scout Shop, located at 705 Ginesi Drive; Morganville, NJ; is accepting applications for part time sales associates. Flexibilitywith schedule is required. > Join the BSA Mail Crew

Looking for something to do with your spare time, a place to go to once a week and help a local charity. Join the BSA Mail Crew.

What is the BSA Mail Crew? It is a group of individuals who volunteer once a week (Thursdays or Fridays 9:00am to 12:00noon) to help the Boy Scouts of America assemble mailings.

Benefits: The knowledge and satisfaction of helping a local charity, free coffee & bagels and opportunities to attend some local Scouting activities as the guest of the council.
