Plant Sale 2014 Begins

posted Mar 19, 2014, 5:58 AM by Unknown user

Great planning, quality gear and adequate finances all contribute to the many terrific activities that Troop 258 enjoys throughout the year.  In order to continue this level of scouting, we must raise funds, which we do via a plant sale. Troop 258’s only fund-raiser, our annual plant sale, will be held this year on April 18-20 (Easter weekend) and May 10-11 (Mother’s Day weekend). This is a mandatory troop activity, which we must all pitch-in to ensure a successful event.

For 2014, each Scout will be required to sell plants for ten hours of the plant sale. Your child can perform this all in one day or spread it out over several days of the sale and set-up. Each Scout must have a parent or guardian accompany them during the entire time they are working the plant sale.

The funds earned through the plant sale go toward the many events your child participates in as a member of Troop 258, helping to keep costs down for every Boy Scout. The family unit must fully participate in this year’s plant sale to receive its benefit.

Please make plans to attend the following meeting to start the allocation of sign-up times for this year’s plant sale. The hours of the sale vary and will be available for review next week.

Meeting Date: March 19 and 26, 2014 at 7:30 PM

Meeting Place: Echo Lake Park

We have four locations in Howell to hold the plant sale:

·       Arby’s on Rt. 9 South

·       Prince of Peace Church on Aldrich Road, just east of Rt. 9

·       Aldrich Elementary School on Aldrich Road, half a mile west of Rt. 9

·       Southard Elementary School on Kent Road, just west of Rt. 9

To be fair in the assignment of sale times, the choice of the time slot for which you volunteer will be assigned by a random drawing to be held at the meeting on March 19. Those not attending the meeting will get a second chance drawing for remaining slots on March 26.

Once you have scheduled your days/times, you are expected to be at the designated site at that time and day, for the full hours you have scheduled. If you need to change your hours, it will be your responsibility to:

1.     Contact me to change your shift for any open hours on the schedule OR you must find someone who is willing to swap hours.

2.     Inform me of those changes to ensure the master schedule is up-to-date.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions at the information below.

Sincerely,
