Troop 258 High Adventurers - Garage Sale Fundraiser

Place: Chick-fil-A parking lot, Route 9 North, Howell

Date: Saturday, November 7, 2015

Time: 10am-2pm

Hello all Troop 258 scouts and families:

During last month’s Scoutmaster/parent meeting at Echo Lake we announced the “Garage Sale Fundraiser”. In preparation for the event, we are looking for scouts and their families to clean out the garage, basement, or attic for items you can donate to the sale. Don’t forget to ask other local family, friends, and neighbors to do the same and donate those items.

All proceeds will be used for the High Adventure trips. Please note that all “High Adventure” scouts will earn credit if they commit to help with the setup and breakdown of the parking lot used for the sale.

Since we do not have the available space to store the items, we are asking you to hold on to the donations until the sale date. We are also asking that you agree to take back your unsold items. However, we are currently looking into the possibility of local veterans and community charities to provide a truck to pick up the unsold items after the sale.

We will follow the same format as our plant sales where only the adults will handle money and there will be a signup list for the volunteers. Of course we’ll need help with inventory, pricing and tagging, and displaying the sales items.

Rain or shine, this is one day only; there will be no rain date.

We are advertising the sale on the Chic-fil-A’s Facebook page, local area papers, your churches, via email, and posting flyers on the Howell public buildings (Flyers to follow this notice). Please check with Ms. Patti Peters or myself before leaving a flyer with any private area businesses.

All donated items should be in working order and intact (complete with all parts or components e.g., game parts, cables, appliance accessories, etc.)

Acceptable Garage Sale items:

  • Furniture- couches, tables, chairs, lamps, cookware, dinnerware, flatware
  • Smaller household appliances – irons, blenders, radios, CD players, microwave, vacuums, etc.
  • Tools - both hand and power, shop and auto tools, gardening tools, etc.
  • Musical instruments
  • Toys, board games, computer games, software and books
  • Auto accessories or furnishings
  • Bicycles or biking gear, car racks
  • Any sporting equipment
  • Any art such as paintings, pictures, prints, posters, frames, sculpture, glass, pottery

We’re looking forward to making this fundraiser as successful as possible so let’s get moving and start the collecting.

If you have other questions, don’t hesitate to call or send an email to me.
